BYTOWN MINOR HOCKEY LEAGUE The Bytown Minor Hockey League (BMHL) offers a tiered (A, B, C), fully interlocked house league for all minor hockey players within ODMHA District B. Canterbury will again participate in this league with SouthEnd, Ottawa Centre, Sandy Hill, St. Laurent and West End Hockey League.
After countless meetings and much planning, the mind boggling 159 team league kicked off in October, and ran right into April. From a Canterbury view, it was a great success. With all districts and teams playing under the same format, we were competitive at every level, and even produced some champions. While there were a few concerns during the year, Canterbury was considered a model citizen, and drew tremendous respect from all associations. Our teams were fair, and competitive, and followed the good sportsmanship guidelines. Again this year, most ‘A’ house leagues will have roughly 6-8 teams, with Canterbury likely fielding one at each age level. In ‘B’ house, most age groups will see a 20 odd team league. Again, this is positive, with a variation in teams to play against, but the comfort of knowing every association in the league will be structured exactly the same. The ‘C’ leagues will see us forming 1 team at Novice-Atom-Peewee, and take part in roughly 6-8 team leagues.
