Volunteers
• PRC
Process
All
volunteers must submit your Police
Record Check (PRC) forms to the Risk
& Safety Director.
Under the
Team section on this website you will see a listing of the House
League Coaches who comprise the first level of volunteers without
whom our House League teams would not exist. There are 28 House
League teams playing out of the Canterbury Hockey Association. With
each team requiring a Head Coach, at least two Assistant Coaches,
a Trainer and a Manager we already have 140 volunteers helping out.
And you can be one!
However, these teams
don’t just magically appear at the beginning of each hockey
season. The Executive has been instrumental in ensuring the delivery
of the hockey program is planned and that all details have been
taken care of even before our first on-ice volunteer is chosen or
before the first set of skates hits the ice.
How to become a volunteer:
You just taken the first step. Reading this page is your gateway
to CHA Volunteerism. If you have any questions about volunteering,
please don’t hesitate to call a member of the executive or Rodney Walsh (Initiation Program Director) at 613-260-9546.
Volunteer Positions:
Coaches - Head Coach & Assistant Coach
Trainer
Team Manager
Division Convenors
CHA Executive Members
Volunteers
are also needed to 'run the clock' and to 'write-up the gamesheet'.
Coaches:
To be a house league Head Coach the minimum requirement is Coach
Stream Level certification.
House league Assistant Coaches should have a Coach Stream Level
Coaching certification.
Trainers:
Every team has to have a qualified Trainer on the bench. There is
Level I and Level II certification.
Team Managers:
No team can operate without a manager. There are no specific prerequisites
to be a manager; you just need the time
to devote to the team.
Division Convenors:
Each division of the CHA (for example, Peewee) has a Division
Convenor.
Executive
Members:
Our Association
has been blessed over the years with a great number of volunteers
who have given up some of their own time to assist in the monthly
operation of the Canterbury Hockey Association through their participation
on the Executive.
To those
of you who participated with your son(s) and /or daughter(s) in
the past season the CHA Executive would like to thank you for your
contribution in making their hockey experience and that of their
teammates a memorable one.
